Du Suroît Park Inauguration

The Town of Pincourt inaugurated its first ever inclusive outdoor park on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the corner of De l'Île Boulevard and Du Suroît Street.

Du Suroît Park is unique because it offers universal accessibility. This new inclusive park is designed for everyone, that is, for people with or without disabilities. Du Suroît Park meets multiple needs as it is stroller, walker and wheelchair friendly.

This brand-new park counters segregation by allowing everyone to play together.

Some of Du Suroît Park’s main features include:

  • An access ramp inside the large play module
  • A swing set with a seat for disabled people
  • An access ramp to the playground around the play modules
  • Sensory panels on the ground
  • Wider paths leading to the picnic table area (accessible furniture)

Action Plan for People with Disabilities 2017-2018

In March 2018, the Town of Pincourt adopted its first action plan for people with disabilities. Since the spring, the Town has taken several concrete steps to improve the integration of people with disabilities.

The design and installation of Du Suroît Park are also in line with the Action Plan.

“We’re proud that this park is more than 80% inclusive,” says Yvan Cardinal, Mayor of Pincourt. Through our Social Development Policy, the Town of Pincourt has made it its mission to foster social cohesion within our community. This new park makes it possible to do just that. We’re delighted to continue developing our recreation offering for people with disabilities.”
