Measures to be taken after the torrential rains of August 9

The heavy rains of Friday, August 9, affected the entire southern region of Quebec, including our population and our own teams.

The Town’s weather station recorded over 190 mm of rain.

Regarding the next steps, please follow these recommendations:

  • Contact your insurers: If you have insurance, please get in touch with your insurer to report the damages.
  • Without insurance: Cleaning companies can guide you through the necessary steps.
  • Health precautions: Please be cautious when sorting out of the damages, as the water may be contaminated and harmful to health.
  • Special bulk waste collection: On August 21, there will be a special collection to help affected citizens dispose of large, damaged items (baths, showers, sinks, furniture, mattresses, carpets, toilets).
  • NOT ACCEPTED: Construction and excavation materials, as well as wood, can be disposed of at the Ecocentre.
  • ANY MATERIAL THAT IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR COLLECTION at the Ecocentre and that you are unable to transport to the Ecocentre, WILL BE TAKEN IN CHARGE BY THE TOWN, during a staggered collection by sector. The date and all the details will follow shortly.

  • Make sure to contact your insurers before disposing of the damaged items.
  • Immediate: Contact the 3-1-1.
  • Emergency: Dial 911.
  • Thank you for your cooperation.
