Extreme Heat – Extended Opening Hours (Updated, August 12, 2025)
Due to the heat wave, the following municipal facilities will have extended opening hours (Update, August 12, 2025):
- The Omni-Centre (air conditioning) will be open until 10 p.m.
- The outdoor pool will be open until 9 p.m.
- Splash pad open until 10 p.m.
During extreme heat, every small action helps you stay safe and cool:
- Stay hydrated, even if you’re not thirsty;
- Keep cool: spend time in air-conditioned or shaded places;
- Reduce physical activity, especially during the afternoon;
- Protect yourself from the sun: wear a hat, sunglasses, and light clothing;
- Check in on vulnerable loved ones;
- Be aware of your body’s signals – heat stroke can come quickly and must be taken seriously.
The following groups of people are more susceptible to heat:
- Older adults, especially those living alone.
- People with heart, lung, or neurological disease, diabetes, or a mental health condition.
- Babies and children under 5 years of age.
- People living in particularly hot homes who cannot easily get to a cool place.
