Intention of Acquisition of the Cité-des-jeunes Arena by the towns of NDÎP and Pincourt
ACQUISITION OF THE CITÉ-DES-JEUNES ARENA
FILING OF A CONDITIONAL PROMISE TO PURCHASE BY THE TOWNS OF NDIP AND PINCOURT
NOTRE-DAME-DE-L'ÎLE-PERROT AND PINCOURT, DECEMBER 23, 2022 - The Towns of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot and Pincourt are very pleased to announce excellent news for the Île Perrot community. The two towns intend to file a conditional promise to purchase the Cité-des-Jeunes arena, located in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
The mayor of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, Danie Deschênes, and the mayor of Pincourt, Claude Comeau, are excited about this opportunity. Our goal is to offer our young and not so young people quality ice time at a competitive cost," explains Ms. Deschênes. ''This economy of scale will allow the towns of île Perrot to plan the construction of infrastructures for other sports in the future, using this leverage which will also generate revenues.''
Our preference is to maintain an existing, functional infrastructure for a fraction of the cost of a new facility, considering the cost of materials and labour," adds Comeau. Selling to a private entity or closing would have put the entire ice operation in jeopardy without the acquisition by the île Perrot towns.
In the meantime, the two mayors will take the time to invite the other two île Perrot towns to collaborate in this new venture, to put in place the legal structure allowing the acquisition and to validate the state of the premises before completing the transaction.
''We are aware that this initiative may come as a surprise'', admits Ms. Deschênes. ''We have already considered this arena as our own for a long time for the ice sports of the citizens of the Island! ''
"This acquisition is just one step towards the construction of sports facilities on Île Perrot. This reflection is well underway between the Island's cities," explains Mr. Comeau.
The revenues generated by the rental of ice time should make it possible to repay a large part of the loan related to the financing of the acquisition.
Following the submission of an offer to purchase, a due diligence process will be initiated, including inspection of the facilities and other standard legal and accounting audits.
